Why I Love Coaching Software Engineers in English
Here is why I love working with Software Engineers and developers!
The majority of my clients have an engineering background. This is excellent for learning English for three main reasons that I feel helps them improve quickly!
Engineers have a unique way of seeing the world
and a genuine curiosity about the world and how it works
They understand that with the right system
you can solve real world problems.
They often get results in language learning because:
1️⃣ UNDERSTANDING OF SYSTEMS
Language learning at it’s foundation is a system of input,
processing and output.
If a system has low to no input the system fails to produce a
lot of output.
When I explain English this way the lightbulb goes on 💡
They realise they have to increase their input
(target related language)
And adjust my processing power (their brains processing) in order to improve my system’s performance.
2️⃣ LANGUAGE IS STRUCTURED
Studying computer code opens up their mind 🤯
to understand that languages are build systematically.
Language learning is also systematic
It has an overall structure and the sharper your understanding
of each piece of the building is the better you know how to
rebuild it in order to improve it and/or to come up
with some creative adaptations.
3️⃣ UNDERSTANDING EFFICIENCY
Finding the short cut is part of the joy of a
developer or engineer.
It is a great deal of the job function of an engineer is to
streamline process es.
Working with code languages means they know that simple
rearrangement of the language can have distarous effects
or at the same time can be extremely beneficial to the system.
So when I explain the importance of the 80/20 principle
In language learning,
They often intuitively understand it.
For these reasons I often see Software Engineers and
developers improve quickly in English through my system.
They dedicate themselves and stick to the process.
For these reasons working with my clients has been a real
pleasure helping them get the real world results
they have been dreaming about!
Do you think engineers have an advantage
when learning English?
