Here is how understanding your brain can help you reach your goals
A short story on my experience with swimming in the cold sea
As I stood on the beach, staring out at the freezing sea and the
approaching storm, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of doubt and fear
wash over me
The thought of diving into the cold water and swimming in the midst
of a rainstorm seemed silly and I would be better staying warm
on the shore
I had always wanted to experience swimming in the sea during a
storm but looking out at the choppy waves
my doubts and fears began to creep in.
“What if it’s too cold?” I thought
“What if the waves are too rough?
What if I get swept away or caught in a current?”
These thoughts were swirling in my head, making me feel uneasy and
uncertain about going in
But then, something inside me shifted.
I realized that I had been letting my negative thoughts hold me back
from experiencing something truly amazing.
I knew that if I didn’t push past my doubts and fears, I would regret it
later.
So, with a deep breath, I decided to take the leap and head out into
the sea.
As soon as I hit the water, I felt a rush of adrenaline.
The cold was invigorating, and the waves were exhilarating.
I swam out into the storm, feeling the rain and wind on my face, and it
was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life.
As I swam, I realized that this experience was not unlike
many others in life.
Whether it’s learning a new skill, starting a new job, or taking on a
challenging task, we often find ourselves plagued by doubt and fear.
But the key to overcoming these obstacles is to push past the
negative mental noise and take action.
Just like swimming in the sea during a storm, learning English can be
difficult and overwhelming at times
But with the right mindset, it’s possible to overcome the doubts and
fears that hold us back.
Whether it’s through taking small steps, seeking out resources, or
surrounding ourselves with a supportive community, there are many
ways to push past the negative mental noise and achieve our goals.
So, the next time you find yourself feeling unsure or hesitant about
something, remember that there is always a way to push past your
doubts and fears.
And, just like that stormy day on the beach, the reward on the other
side is truly worth it
What’s your goal this year?
